About the Celebration
The most prominent festival of the Nyishi tribe, the largest ethnic group in Arunachal Pradesh. In the Nyishi dialect, 'Nyok' means earth and 'Kum' means collectiveness. Villagers assemble to pray for world harmony, bountiful crops, and safety from natural catastrophes.
